"I practice judo for fitness and for personal development and teach because it reflects the values that have been instilled in me by my sensei (to give back). I believe strongly in Kano Sensei’s founding principles of Judo – maximum efficiency and mutual benefit. My favorite aspect is competition and I encourage my students and fellow judoka to participate in competition as well. However, I believe the benefits of Judo are there for competitors and recreational players alike.

I did Judo for a couple of years as a young child and have been enjoying a second-life in Judo that started about 10 years ago. I can still feel the impact of those first couple of years and strongly believe that the benefits of Judo for school age children can last a lifetime.

The most important thing I’ve learned from Judo (and am still learning) is patience! The best thing about Judo is that it’s FUN!"
